Interim Scottville City Manager Goodlein has related that auditors have determined a budget deficit accumulating up to nearly a half million dollars has surfaced over the past few years. In order to be solvent, they are considering changes in policing to reduce costs over the next three years. Which of these do you think is the best way to proceed?

Find another place to cut, keep the SPD at current levels. This will cost the city (projected) $615,000 for 2025-27

Contract with the sheriff's office, offering half the local coverage, add a part-time code-enforcement officer, for $550,000 for 2025-2027, saving the city $65,000

Forgo local officers altogether with sheriff's office responding to emergency calls only, effectively costing the city $0 for 2025-27, saving the city $615,000
